Description

These high-quality 3D printing nozzles are designed specifically for use with Prusa’s latest extruder – Nextruder. Compatible with Prusa’s MK4, MK4S and XL 3D printers, they feature an all-metal filament guide which means that Nextruder’s filament path is entirely metal. This helps improve overall printer reliability and enables speedier nozzle changing.

Higher Flow. E3D Prusa High Flow ObXidian Nozzles increase your setup's volumetric flow rate, enabling you to print faster!

How does this work? Unlike our previous E3D High Flow Hotends (Volcano and SuperVolcano), E3D Prusa High Flow ObXidian Nozzles maintain the exact same form factor as standard E3D Prusa ObXidian Nozzles; this means there is no need to adjust your pre-existing mount and fan duct setups! E3D Prusa High Flow Brass Nozzles use a unique custom internal geometry to increase the surface area for improved thermal transfer to the filament.

With a wear resistance orders of magnitude higher than any other E3D nozzle, ObXidian is really hard, making it the perfect nozzle for printing abrasive/filled polymers. This is achieved by pairing a tool steel insert with our new E3DLC™ coating. This specially formulated coating also embeds non-stick properties into the Nozzle itself, meaning considerably less plastic build-up around the Nozzle.

Simplified nozzle changing. Changing a nozzle on your Prusa printer just got much easier! Waste less time changing your nozzles and more time experimenting with different sizes and materials.

Easy identification. Each Nozzle has its size engraved into it.

Please note:

  • ObXidian™ coated nozzles are exceptionally wear resistant compared to other products on the market and significantly outperform other hardened nozzles. Improvements in ‘exotic’ engineering filaments mean that some new materials which include aggressive fillers, including but not limited to Polymaker’s Fiberon range (PA612-CF, PA6-CF, PA6-GF and PA12-CF), can cause significant wear on even ObXidian nozzles. E3D is actively developing even more specialist solutions for these materials. In the meantime please be aware that even the rainbows and unicorns in your ObXidian nozzle are not everlasting under extreme material conditions.
  • Some filled materials contain particles that are close to, if not larger than, some of the smaller industry standard nozzle sizes, including up to 0.4mm. Attempting to print such materials through these nozzle sizes significantly increases the risk a jam. Please check your filament manufacturer’s datasheet for recommended minimum nozzle orifice diameter to ensure that the nozzle/hotend you choose is suitable for your use case.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Do I need to change the firmware to use these nozzles?

No, these nozzles are a direct replacement and will work out of the box with your Prusa MK4/XL printer and Prusa Slicer.

How much faster can I print with the Prusa MK4/XL High Flow Nozzles?

Please see our datasheet for the recommended max volumetric flow rates. Please note that volumetric flow rates and print speed are related but not the same parameters. You can use our volumetric flow rate calculator to see how the layer height, track width, filament and speed contribute to your overall print performance.

How do I print faster with these nozzles?

At the time of writing, there are no official profiles built into Prusa Slicer; however, we have a guide to show you how to edit the material volumetric flow rate limitations and how to boost the movement speed.

Do I need to tune input shaping for these nozzles?

No, your Prusa MK4/ XL already has the input shaping setup ready to go.

Is it possible to wear an ObXidian Nozzle?

ObXidian™ coated nozzles are exceptionally wear-resistant compared to other products on the market and significantly outperform other hardened nozzles. Improvements in ‘exotic’ engineering filaments mean that some new materials, which include aggressive fillers, including but not limited to Polymaker’s Polymide range, can cause significant wear on even ObXidian nozzles. E3D is actively developing even more specialist solutions for these materials. In the meantime please be aware that even the rainbows and unicorns in your ObXidian nozzle are not everlasting under extreme material conditions.

What is the maximum temperature I can print with ObXidian?

300°C
