Meet our partners: Filastruder

Meet our partners: Filastruder

Did you know our reseller network spans over 50 countries? Our sales partners are on hand to give customers peace of mind, minimise shipping delay risk, and take away those pesky import duties. We caught up with Filastruder, one of our resellers in the USA.

Hi there! Tell us about yourself…

Hi! My name is Tim Elmore, and I’m the owner of Filastruder. We’re located just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, USA. We’ve been operating since 2013, when we launched the Filastruder on Kickstarter.

At Filastruder I do a little bit of everything – customer support, ordering from suppliers, website updates, and shipping orders when other staff are on vacation.

It’s Tim Elmore from Filastruder!

How did you get into 3D printing and how did you become aware of E3D?

I got into 3D printing in 2012 when I needed to 3D print some brackets for my PhD thesis work. I found filament to be quite expensive and spent a Saturday afternoon building the first prototype of the Filastruder. Turns out other folks were interested in what I’d made, and a company was born.

I fulfilled the Kickstarter rewards, finished my PhD, and began growing the company. In 2013 I saw Sanjay posting about the E3D V4. I immediately reached out and placed an order for 400 HotEnds. The rest is history.

Which E3D products are most popular with your customers?

E3D does a great job of producing quality products at an attractive price point. Our customers really like Hemera. The wide range of compatible nozzles are popular too.

Which E3D product is your personal favourite?

I’m a fan of the E3D V6. It works well, has a large ecosystem of compatible parts, and is affordable to the average user.

With that said, I'm excited to say I've held the future of 3D printing in my hand, and it is glorious.

What are the benefits of partnering with E3D?

We started working with E3D in 2014, and we’ve enjoyed the relationship. Everyone I’ve worked with at E3D is passionate about 3D printing, receptive to feedback, and interested in doing things well. They’re a kind, supportive company to be a reseller for.

What kind of customer support do you provide for E3D products?

We provide full customer support – from design and implementation help, to support when things go wrong. Over 90% of enquiries are handled by us, and E3D are there to back us up and lend their expertise with support questions when we need it.

Do you have all the documentation you need for our products?

E3D has made great strides with documentation in the last few years. Their printer-specific guides and product datasheets are great, and we’d love to see more of both!

Which customers would you recommend E3D products to and why?

I can’t think of anyone I wouldn’t recommend E3D products to. E3D stands behind their products – if something goes wrong, their customer support team is there to help put it right.

In your opinion, what’s the best thing about working in the 3D printing industry?

The best thing is the 3D printing industry is constantly moving forward. Less than a decade ago, 3D printers were made from threaded rod and wood – we’ve come a long way from that. Being part of an industry experiencing such rapid technological advancement is exciting to be part of.

Most important question: when things are back to normal, when can you visit us and what drink can we get you?

I’d love to visit! It’s been too long. The only correct answer is tea, right? Put the kettle on!
